About This Tool

Government documents like Form 16, ITR acknowledgments, DigiLocker certificates, and e-signed agreements are frequently digitally signed PDFs. This tool helps you quickly check whether a PDF contains signature fields.

The tool performs structural analysis — scanning the PDF's internal structure for signature objects, ByteRange arrays, AcroForm fields, and certificate references — entirely in your browser.

  • Detects signature fields, ByteRange, and AcroForm data
  • Extracts signer name and signing date if embedded
  • Shows full PDF metadata (title, author, creator, etc.)
  • 100% browser-based, your PDF never leaves your device
  • Free, instant, no account needed

Frequently Asked Questions

Can this tool verify if a signature is authentic?
No. Cryptographic verification requires access to the signer's certificate, the issuing Certificate Authority (CA), and complex cryptographic operations. This tool detects the presence of signature structures in the PDF — it tells you whether a signature exists, not whether it is mathematically valid. Use Adobe Acrobat Reader for cryptographic verification.
What types of digital signatures can it detect?
The tool detects standard PDF digital signatures that use AcroForm signature fields with ByteRange-based signing (as defined in the PDF specification). This covers most e-sign formats used by Indian government platforms including DigiLocker e-sign, eMudhra, NSDL, and Adobe Sign.
Why does it show "No Digital Signature Detected" for a signed document?
Some PDFs may contain visual signatures (an image of a signature pasted onto the page) rather than cryptographic digital signatures. Visual signatures are not detectable by this tool as they have no special structure in the PDF file. This tool only detects true cryptographic digital signatures embedded in the PDF.
Is my PDF document secure when using this tool?
Yes. The PDF is read and analyzed entirely within your browser using JavaScript (PDF.js). The file bytes never leave your device — no data is transmitted to any server. It is safe to use even with sensitive government documents.
