πŸ”’ Privacy & Security 5 questions
Are my files safe? Do you upload them to a server?β–Ό
No. Every tool on Sarkari DNA Tools runs entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. Your files are never transmitted to any server β€” they live only in your device's local memory while the tab is open. When you close the tab, they are gone permanently. This is a technical design choice, not just a privacy policy.
Can you see my Aadhaar number, PAN details, or photos?β–Ό
No. We have no backend server, no database, and no ability to receive or store any of your data. All processing happens locally in your browser. We literally cannot see your files even if we wanted to.
Do you use cookies or track my activity?β–Ό
We use only essential, anonymous analytics to understand general usage patterns (e.g. which tool is most used). We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, or any cookies that identify you personally. Please see our Privacy Policy for full details.
Is it safe to process sensitive government documents here?β–Ό
Yes. Because all processing is local to your browser and nothing is uploaded, using this site is safer than using many popular online tools that do upload your files to cloud servers. Your Aadhaar card, PAN details, and other sensitive documents never leave your device.
Do you sell my data to third parties?β–Ό
No. We do not collect personal data, and we do not show advertisements. We are an independent, self-funded project with no revenue model that depends on your data. We build these tools because we use them ourselves.
πŸͺͺ PAN Card Photo & Signature 7 questions
What are the exact photo size requirements for PAN card?β–Ό
For NSDL and UTI PAN card applications:
  • Photo: 213 Γ— 213 pixels, maximum 50 KB, JPG format
  • Signature: 560 Γ— 90 pixels, maximum 30 KB, JPG format
Our PAN Photo Resizer automatically produces files at these exact specifications.
Why is my PAN photo being rejected by the portal?β–Ό
Common reasons for rejection:
  • File size exceeds 50 KB (even 51 KB will fail)
  • Dimensions are not exactly 213 Γ— 213 px
  • Background is dark, patterned, or not plain white/light blue
  • Face is not front-facing, eyes are closed, or there are accessories like sunglasses
  • Wrong file format β€” portal requires JPG, not PNG or WEBP
Use the PAN Photo Resizer to automatically fix size, dimensions, and format.
What background colour is required for the PAN card photo?β–Ό
NSDL and UTI guidelines require a plain white or light blue background. Avoid dark colours, patterns, or busy backgrounds. If your photo has the wrong background, use our Background Remover tool to replace it with white before resizing.
How do I prepare my signature for the PAN card application?β–Ό
Sign with a black or dark blue pen on a blank white sheet of paper. Take a clear photo or scan it. Then upload it to the PAN Photo Resizer β€” the tool will crop, resize to 560 Γ— 90 px, and compress to under 30 KB automatically.
Can I use a mobile phone camera for the PAN card photo?β–Ό
Yes. A modern smartphone camera produces photos of more than sufficient quality. Make sure: the photo is taken in good natural or indoor light, the background is plain white or light blue, and the face is clear and front-facing. Then upload it to our PAN Photo Resizer to get the exact required dimensions and file size.
Is there a difference between NSDL and UTI photo requirements?β–Ό
Both NSDL and UTI follow the same specifications: 213 Γ— 213 px, under 50 KB for the photo and 560 Γ— 90 px, under 30 KB for the signature. Our PAN Photo Resizer produces output that meets both portals' requirements.
Can I wear glasses in my PAN card photo?β–Ό
Regular clear prescription glasses are generally acceptable. However, sunglasses, tinted lenses, and reflective glasses are not allowed. Your eyes must be clearly visible. When in doubt, remove glasses β€” NSDL and UTI may reject photos where eyes are obscured.
πŸ“„ PDF Tools 5 questions
What PDF file size do government portals typically allow?β–Ό
Limits vary by portal, but common limits are:
  • NSDL / UTI: 500 KB – 1 MB per document
  • Income Tax Portal: 2 MB for supporting documents
  • UIDAI / Aadhaar: 1 MB for scanned documents
  • DigiLocker: 10 MB (more generous)
Use our PDF Compressor to reduce your file below the required limit.
How much can the PDF Compressor reduce a file?β–Ό
It depends on the content. PDFs with scanned images (like Aadhaar cards or mark sheets) typically compress by 50–80%. PDFs that are mostly text compress less. You can compress multiple times if a single pass doesn't reach the target size.
Will compression affect the quality or readability of my PDF?β–Ό
Low and Medium compression settings produce minimal quality loss β€” text stays sharp and clearly readable. High compression may slightly reduce image sharpness in scanned documents. Always preview your compressed PDF before submitting it to a portal. For text-based PDFs, even High compression rarely affects readability.
How do I convert JPG/PNG images into a single PDF?β–Ό
Use our JPG to PDF Converter. Upload one or more images, arrange them in order by dragging the thumbnails, choose A4 page size, and click Convert. The result is a multi-page PDF ready to upload. If the resulting PDF is too large, run it through the PDF Compressor next.
Can I verify if my PDF has a valid digital signature?β–Ό
Yes. Use the Digital Signature Verifier. It scans your PDF for embedded signature fields and reports how many signatures exist, the signer's name (if embedded), and the signing date. Note: this tool detects signatures β€” for full cryptographic DSC chain validation, use Adobe Acrobat Reader.
πŸͺͺ Aadhaar Card 4 questions
How do I combine Aadhaar front and back into one file?β–Ό
Use the Aadhaar Formatter & Merger. Upload the front image in the first zone and the back image in the second zone. Choose your layout (side-by-side or stacked), then click Merge. The combined file downloads as a single PDF or JPG, ready for portal submission.
Is it safe to process my Aadhaar card on this site?β–Ό
Yes. Your Aadhaar image is processed entirely within your browser. No image data, no Aadhaar number, and no personal information is transmitted to any server at any point. The tool has no backend β€” it is technically impossible for us to receive or store your Aadhaar data.
Which layout β€” side-by-side or stacked β€” should I choose for Aadhaar?β–Ό
Side-by-side (landscape) is preferred by most portals as it fits the card dimensions naturally. Stacked (portrait) places front on top and back below on an A4 sheet β€” some banks and HR portals prefer this. Check your portal's instructions if specified; otherwise, side-by-side is the safer default.
Can I use a phone camera photo of my Aadhaar instead of a scan?β–Ό
Yes. A clear phone photo taken in good lighting works fine. Make sure: the card fills most of the frame, all four corners are visible, the text is readable, and there is no heavy glare or shadow on the card. Avoid cropping the card before uploading β€” let our tool handle the layout.
πŸ“· Photo Tools 6 questions
What is the standard passport photo size in India?β–Ό
The standard Indian passport photo size is 35 Γ— 45 mm (width Γ— height). For the Indian Passport (MEA), the requirement is 2 Γ— 2 inches (51 Γ— 51 mm). Our Passport Photo Maker supports both sizes β€” select the correct preset before generating your sheet.
How do I print the passport photos at the correct physical size?β–Ό
Download the generated PDF or PNG from the Passport Photo Maker and take it to a photo studio or printer. Ask for it to be printed at 300 DPI on 4R or A4 glossy photo paper. Do not let the printer scale or fit-to-page β€” print at 100% actual size.
How does the Background Remover work? Is AI involved?β–Ό
Yes β€” the Background Remover uses an AI segmentation model that runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly. The AI model is downloaded once to your device, after which it processes images locally without any internet connection. No image is ever sent to an AI cloud service.
The background remover isn't cutting my hair perfectly β€” what can I do?β–Ό
AI background removal works best when there is clear contrast between the subject and the background. For better results: use a plain, single-colour background when taking the photo, ensure good lighting without heavy shadows, and avoid very curly or flyaway hair if precision is critical. Minor edge imperfections are usually not visible in small government document photos.
What image formats do the photo tools accept?β–Ό
All photo tools accept JPG, PNG, and WEBP as input. Output is JPG (for portal submissions) or PNG (for transparent backgrounds). The PAN Photo Resizer always outputs JPG to match NSDL/UTI portal requirements.
Can I use a selfie for government form photos?β–Ό
You can use a high-quality selfie taken in good lighting with a plain background, but avoid the typical selfie angle β€” hold the phone at eye level, keep the camera straight (not from above), and use the rear camera if possible, as it is higher resolution. For PAN card photos specifically, guidelines require a neutral expression and both ears visible, which can be difficult with a selfie. A photo taken by someone else gives better results.
βš™οΈ General & Technical 8 questions
Are all tools completely free? Are there any hidden charges?β–Ό
Yes β€” 100% free, forever. There is no premium tier, no credit card required, and no watermarks on any output. We are an independent project with no investor funding and no advertising. We build and maintain these tools as a public service.
Do I need to create an account or sign up?β–Ό
No. There is no account, no sign-up, no email address, and no login required. Open any tool and start immediately β€” every tool is available to all visitors, always.
Does it work on mobile phones?β–Ό
Yes. All tools are fully mobile-responsive and work on Android and iOS browsers including Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. You can upload photos directly from your phone's camera roll or take a new photo using the camera. The Background Remover may take slightly longer on older phones due to the AI processing load.
Which browser works best?β–Ό
All modern browsers work well: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari (iOS 15+). We recommend Chrome or Edge for the best performance with the Background Remover's AI processing. Internet Explorer is not supported.
How do I report a bug or suggest a new tool?β–Ό
We'd love to hear from you. Email us at support@sarkaridnatools.com or use the Contact page. We read every message and respond to genuine queries within 1–2 business days.
Are you affiliated with any government agency?β–Ό
No. Sarkari DNA Tools is an independent, privately developed utility website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with NSDL, UTI, UIDAI, the Income Tax Department, or any other government body. We are a citizen-built tool that helps people meet government document requirements.
What happens to my file after I close the tab?β–Ό
Your file is erased automatically when you close the tab or navigate away from the tool. Since all processing happens in your browser's memory and nothing is stored on any server, there is nothing to delete β€” the data simply ceases to exist on the page close.
A tool isn't working or the page isn't loading β€” what should I try?β–Ό
Try these steps in order:
  • Hard refresh the page: Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac)
  • Clear your browser cache and cookies, then reload
  • Try a different browser (Chrome or Firefox recommended)
  • Disable any ad blockers or browser extensions temporarily
  • Check your internet connection β€” some tools download AI models on first use
If none of these help, contact us with the tool name and a description of the issue.
